Late yesterday, HHS Secretary Alex Azar announced he had renewed the Public Health Emergency (PHE) declaration which was due to expire. With this renewal, the PHE continues for an additional 90 days. This means that the various Medicare and Medicaid waivers approved by HHS due to the COVID-19 PHE are similarly extended. This latest renewal, which the Secretary had previously said he would do, means the PHE declaration will be in effect until late October. |
