One of our patients is on vacation in South Carolina and is requesting a telemedicine visit with one of our Texas based RHC Physicians. Any issues with the Physician providing telemedicine visit to a customer in a different state?

Cross-state licensure has always been a hurdle for telehealth. Most states would not allow the clinician to telehealth with a patient that was visiting their state pre-pandemic (with a few notable exceptions).

However, many states have enacted emergency policies that may allow for this.

I found a reference which might help with this for you:

Yes there are state licensing issues and each state is a little different. Generally you must be licensed in the state where the patient is located. Some states allow temporary or follow up telehealth by an out of state provider that has an existing relationship with the patient. However, each state is different you will need to know the licensing laws of the state where the patient is located.
