We are a RHC-provider based clinic. When we have a Medicare telemed visit (G2025) by a provider and he tells the patient to go to the clinic and have some blood work done, we split off the lab charges, but does that venipuncture stay on a separate RHC account and not billed with the telemed visit?  It seems odd to bill a venipuncture with a telemed visit when the patient wasn't there for the visit, but venipuncture billing is very confusing anyway.  Any insight into this would be appreciated. Thank you!

You would not have a face to face encounter to associate the draw with so it basically is unreportable. If the patient were to have the venipuncture at the hospital, the hospital could associate the draw. But, otherwise, it is incidental to the telemedicine visit and not billable or reimbursable. You must still have a provider in the RHC when the lab draws are done. There is a bigger conversation going on around the venipuncture right now in our consultant circle so we'll keep everyone posted if something changes.
