Medicare announced a new code G2211 for continuous relationship with patient.  Does anyone know if this code will be allowed in the RHC?

It is an add on code for the E/M so I realize we will get no additional reimbursement however it does have RVUs attached which would affect providers production calculation.  Thank you.

I am also curious about using this code in an RHC.  Clearly, our providers' production bonus is wRVU based, so they would like to use this add on code.  Any clarification would be appreciated.

Yes, I would like some clarification on this as well. We have providers telling us they want to use this code, but we really can't pay them for something we get no payment for or we will be digging ourselves a deeper hole.

Hi all,

I would not expect in-person G2211 to generate any additional payments from traditional Medicare in 2024. You can and should be reporting it on claims if you are doing it, but it will not generate a second AIR or any additional reimbursement.

One nuance to this is that if you are doing an E/M and a G2211 all via telehealth, we believe that would generate two G2025s that could be billed together and reimbursing $95.29 x 2.

I do want to call out that while it will not provide any additional revenue directly from Medicare, it will increase revenue through the 20% coinsurance due by the patient or their secondary.

Does anyone know which insurances will pay for this?

I saw this not sure how accurate:

As of March 1, 2024, three national payers have confirmed coverage of G2211: Cigna (Medicare Advantage only), Humana (commercial and Medicare Advantage), United Healthcare (commercial and Medicare Advantage).Mar 4, 2024

I read more and did see that traditional Medicare and Medicare advantage plans do cover. I am unsure on which commercial insurances. I am not sure who I can reach out to about this.

Has anyone been using this? Any issues? Denials?
