Dear RHC Community,

The NARHC Research and Education Foundation (REF) is thrilled to share that the application is now live for the fall 2025 Quest for Rural Experience Scholarships.

If your RHCs are hosting Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant/Associate students this fall, please encourage them to apply!

Quest for Rural Experience Scholarships are $3,000 awards provided directly to students to assist in covering various expenses they may incur during their rotations, including housing, transportation, and other educational expenses. NARHC REF aims to award four scholarships this fall.

About NARHC REF
The NARHC REF was established in 2021 to conduct and promote research about the role that RHCs play in improving access to care, and to provide financial support to students completing clinical rotations in RHCs.

Past Scholarship Recipients
Quest for Rural Experience scholarships have previously been awarded to Meredith Fischer (Fall 2024) and Spencer Haire (Spring 2025). Here’s what they had to say about their experiences rotating in an RHC –

“This Rural Health Clinic rotation experience has genuinely opened my mind to seeking a provider role in this setting in the future due to the incredibly rewarding experience I have had with this patient population.” – Meredith Fischer

“I built strong relationships with patients by addressing both medical and social problems, learning to navigate barriers like transportation and limited resources. This experience reinforced my commitment to serving rural communities.” – Spencer Haire

Support NARHC REF
We are excited to continue supporting students with interests in rural healthcare and would greatly appreciate your support as we expand our scholarship program!

Please help us to amplify this experience, consider making a fully tax deductible donation to NARHC REF, or contact NARHC REF’s Executive Director, Sarah Hohman at Sarah.Hohman@narhc.org with any questions.

Sincerely,

The National Association of Rural Health Clinics Research and Education Foundation
