The Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals, also known as the Sammies and considered the Oscars of federal service, are awarded each year by the Partnership for Public Service to recognize noteworthy and inspiring accomplishments of federal employees.  This year, and for the first time ever, a team from the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) was nominated. Megan Meacham, Sarah O’Donnell, and Allison Hutchings have been selected as finalists for their management of the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program.  This nomination is a recognition not only of their contributions to programs that are providing life-saving substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts in rural communities, but is also an acknowledgement of the work of their entire RCORP team and all of the partners and grantee organizations working daily to make a difference in rural communities across the country.

In addition to their nomination in the Management Excellence category, there is also a “People’s Choice Award” which allows you to vote. If you are interested, you can vote daily through June 19 when the top 6 will be named; and then the voting will close on June 30 in order to name the People’s Choice Award winner.  Thank you!
