Does anyone have any experience with a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in your RHC clinic? We currently have an LISW that we bill for however we have a staff member who will be graduating and taking exam in May to become an LMSW, then it is my understanding they have to work 4,000 hours with supervision prior to being able to obtain the LISW status,

Only Licensed Clinical Social Workers are eligible for Medicare billing. The LMSW may qualify for Medicaid encounters, but not Medicare. I am not familiar with an LISW, but unless they meet the LCSW qualifications are not billable to Medicare either.
Per Medicare Benefit Policy Manual Chapter 13: A CSW is an individual who: * Possesses a master's or doctor's degree in social work; * After obtaining the degree, has performed at least 2 years of supervised clinical social work; and * Is licensed or certified as a clinical social worker by the state in which the services are performed; or, in the case of an individual in a state that does not provide for licensure or certification, meets the requirements listed in 410.73(a)(3)(i) and (ii) Thanks - Charles 2/2/2021 @ 11:20:00 AM

It would be any of the codes out on page 14 of the QVL. Those are the codes that our LCSWs bill with.

Forgot to add our LCSWs do a note on every patient they see. They follow the guidelines for documenting those visits. Our LCSWs primarily perform counseling services.
